Issue #23, August 2010

Welcome to our August 2010 Newsletter!

It's been a few months since our last newsletter so we thought we'd give you a quick run down of what has been happening within IT Associates over the last two months. It would seem Apple has dominated the news stories in this issue of our newsletter with the release of the iPhone 4, we also have a product review on the iPad and our usual computer tip at the end.

What's been happening within IT Associates!

ITAGCarQuite a lot has happened over the last couple of months and there is plenty more coming up in August.

Nigel returned from his Honeymoon mid July after marrying his gorgeous wife in June. On behalf of everyone at IT Associates, congratulations to you both and we wish you much happiness.

The end of financial year has been and gone and the technicians have been extremely busy with planning and successfully implementing numerous projects.

During August, IT Associates will be having a Massive Action Day (MAD) which explained is an internal review of the company. We are committed to continually improving our products and services to you and we welcome you to fill in our Feedback Form on our website. Tell us what you like, let us know if there's anything you feel we should be doing better. Don't worry, the technicians will still be available for emergency call outs.

In addition to our 'MAD', Daniel will be travelling to the United States at the end of August to attend two of our Partners' Summits. The information and knowledge he is expected to bring back will be invaluable with providing superior services to you, our valued clients.

One has to wonder, what's next from Apple?

The long awaited arrival of the Apple iPad to the Australian shores finally came a couple of months ago and word has it, it is pretty difficult to get your hands on one.

Needless to say, IT Associates has been successful in purchasing a couple for review and demonstrations. In reality, it looks like a big oversized iPhone. Nigel Heyn, our managing director has been using it daily and took it overseas earlier this month as a light weight alternative to his notebook. This is what he had to say:

"After using the iPad for a number of weeks now, I can say that it has become my preferred device to carry around with me everywhere. The two biggest factors as to why it follows me in the car, whenever I travel, etc., is its long battery life (I only have to charge it twice per week)  and also its size, as it just fits everywhere".

The IT Associates team have customised the iPads to include the right applications to enable us to work anytime, anywhere as if we were just in our own office. From smart remote terminal connections, through to secure VPN and email links into our office IT systems, the iPad we see as a true enabler for computing everywhere!

Ask us for a demo OR speak to us about our iPad corporate packages to help bring your business into the 21st century.

Apple iPhone 4 - Released In Australia 30th July 2010

IT Associates - FeedbackEverywhere you turn, the Apple name is mentioned. It's not uncommon to walk down the street and see every 2nd or 3rd person sliding their finger across an iPhone.

We've had the iPhone 3G, the 3Gs and now we've got the iPhone 4. Despite the two previous generations, it seems the iPhone is just as popular, with Telstra stating that they'd had 'tens of thousand's of customers' already registering their interest in purchasing the new iPhone 4.

There's been quite a lot of talk about the technical issues of the iPhone 4 but it would seem that the new features are outweighing the cons. If you thought the 3Gs was thin, the new iPhone 4 is only 9.3mm in thickness. Other features include a camera with LED Flash, a micro sim slot and over 100 other features.

Carriers seem to be offering the iPhone as locked to their network whereas it would seem, according to The Age Website, Apple is selling the device outright and unlocked with the 16Gb priced at $859 and the 32Gb at $999.
